Update of the Support Backbone – Customer Action Required!
The deadline for the update of the SAP Support Backbone Infrastructure is getting closer. Customers need to switch to the new infrastructure before the end of 2019 to ensure continuous connectivity. This includes updating SAP Solution Manager to SP09 as well as every other SAP system that has a direct connectivity to Support Backbone. Follow the instructions of Backbone Update Guide and act now to update your systems to stay connected to SAP as of January 1, 2020. VPN Remote Connectivity to SAP for Service and Support Access – Customer Action Required!
The German Federal Office for Information Security (BSI) has released a technical guideline regarding cryptographic mechanisms which consists of recommendations regarding key lengths and other parameters for the use of Internet Protocol Security (IPsec) and Internet Key Exchange (IKEv2). If you are using VPN technology to connect to SAP for remote service and support access you should have a look at the link below to get more information on how to mitigate risks in this area. Based on the technical guideline from the BSI, SAP plans to support our customers in making a timely transition within the coming months by utilizing IKEv2-based connectivity.

SAP Australian User Group Melbourne Conference 2019
SAP Australian User Group (SAUG) hosted the SAUG Melbourne Conference 2019 on November 21st. For 2019 SAUG made a strategic move to reduce the number of streams from 4 to 3 as the event was close to capacity. Nevertheless, the number of total registrations has stayed on a steady level. There has been a slight increase in the number of ordinary (customer) members accounting for 62% of the delegates. The best attended streams covered the topics of Digital Transformation, Optimizing SAP and Lines of Business.
UK & Ireland SAP User Group Annual Conference 2019
The UK & Ireland SAP User Group hosted their annual conference UKISUG Connect from 1st – 3rd of December in Birmingham. This year’s conference was the biggest yet with 1.000+ delegates and 80+ exhibitors presenting their solutions and services on the show floor. 104 breakout sessions, 12 workshops and a dedicated theme day on SAP Business One was split into 14 conference tracks across the 3 days, including Customer Experience, Financial Excellence, SAP S/4HANA, Total Workforce Management and Optimizing your SAP. Each track shared knowledge and insights from SAP experts, customers and partners to provide delegates a powerful insight in using SAP Technology. Building on last year the conference also hosted 30+ university students to learn more about SAP’s part of the user groups University Alliances Program.
Event Premiere for SAP User Group in Pakistan
The SAP User Group in Pakistan (SUGPK) had its first event in October this year. The first event, initiated by the User Group’s South Chapter, was successfully held in Karachi on October 15th. The second one took place in Islamabad on October 17th and covered SUGPK’s North Chapter. The events’ agendas included customers presenting and exchanging about their organization’s digital transformation, especially in the context of moving to SAP S/4HANA. Besides others, Indus Motor Company shared their impressive journey to SAP S/4HANA and the overwhelming benefits they gained from the transition. Both events were very well received by the attendees, who expressed their gratitude and happiness about the establishment of the User Group in Pakistan as a customer-driven community for exchange amongst customers as well as interactions between customers and SAP.
